A Charming French Country Cottage in the Beautiful Perigord
Our Learn, Eat, & Be Well cottage and guest cottage were built in the late 1700s. These cottages were renovated for comfort and convenience while maintaining their old world french country charm.
The cottages were built with traditional stone and slate from the region. They are situated along the banks of the Coly river. This pristine, spring fed, river provides a crystal clear water source for birds, deer, and those wishing to take a refreshing dip. In the hot summer months, it keeps the evenings fresh and the veggie gardens green. The cottage gardens were designed by your host Bianca Church, who studied traditional French and Italian formal gardens and English country gardens from 2020 – 2022. The main cottage has a bird and butterfly sanctuary with fountains, birdbaths, and bird feeders in every garden. Both cottages have river views and offer great places to sit outside.
The village of Coly has two restaurants within walking distance and a cafe with mini grocery for bread, veggies, a quite cup of tea or any necessities. Coly is conveniently only ten minutes to Montignac, 20 minutes to Sarlat-la-Canéda, and a short cycling distance to the Abbey of Saint-Amand-de-Coly with its abbey, cafe and pizzeria. The valley is ideal for walks along the river, hiking (with connections to the Camino de Santiago), cycling, bird watching, or meditation.
